Summer Season

The recreational options are endless in the summer when staying at Electric Mountain Lodge, your gateway to the Grand Mesa, Gunnison & White River National Forest.  Located at 9,100 feet elevation on the side of Electric Mountain summer guests can escape the heat and relax in the cool refreshing mountain air or adventure out into the backcountry of our national forests.

Summer Fun on Wheels!
In the summer Electric Mountain Lodge is situated on hundreds of miles of jeep and ATV trails extending to Vega State Park and then into the Grand Mesa.  The trails are of varying difficulty from scenic fun family trails to more aggressive mud holes and rock climbs.  Come join one of the 877,000 riders enjoying Colorado’s premiere ATV trails.  Electric Mountain Lodge works closely with local ATV rental companies to outfit our guests.  Many locals will drive up the Western Slope to explore the Grand Mesa Scenic By-Way and venture to Vega S.P. and then over to the lodge for lunch.  The main forest roads are well maintained and can be traversed by two wheel low clearance vehicles.

Horseback Riding
Bring the family and adventure into the Colorado Rockies by horseback.  Hubbard Creek outfitters are the preferred horseback operation of Electric Mountain Lodge with real cowboys and a great safety record.  Hubbard Creek Ranch has a remote location below Electric Mountain Lodge making horseback rides convenient and hassle free.  Check out Hubbard Creek Outfitters online at www.hubbardcreek.com

Hiking
Enjoy the national forests at a slower pace and go for a walk or hike into the backcountry.  With hundreds of miles of trails to hike of varying terrain and difficulty everyone can find a favorite hike.  Terror Creek Trail is located ¼ mile from the lodge and wraps on and around Electric Mountain Lodge providing amazing views of the surrounding mountain ranges.  A four mile hike from Overland Reservoir (a few miles from the lodge) on trail 720 will bring you into amazing country on the backside of Mt. Hatten (11,310ft), Crater Peak(11,327) , & Mt. Darline (11,306) amongst several reservoirs ideal for fishing.  Venture 30 miles through Vega State Park and on to the Craig’s Crest National Recreation, a 10 mile loop trail with amazing views.

Fishing
The fishing is amazing when based out of Electric Mountain Lodge.  Hundreds of natural lakes on the Grand Mesa provides weeks of fishing options.  Enjoy catching Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout and Brook Trout.  Some lakes do have boating restrictions on motors.  Overland Reservoir a few miles from the lodge is stocked with trout each year with catches ranging from 8-10 inches.

Mountain Biking
Trails are plentiful on the Grand Mesa.  Enjoy the several miles of Forest Service Roads and single track.  Bring your bikes into Paonia or Redstone and enjoy smooth trails with stunning views as you explore small Colorado mountain towns.
